Speaking at the summit meeting devoted to laser technologies for oil and gas industry, Grigory Kiselev, head of the International Business of OMEGA Company, informed the participants on new possibilities opened for Russian and Chinese pipeline operators with using fiber-optic Leak Detection and Activity Control System (LDACS). The System can detect oil and gas leakages accurately and authentically, as well as inform an operator on an activity in the protected zone.
An important advantage of LDACS is not only signaling on an activity, but also specifying its nature. Recently the developers expanded the library of activities identified by the system, which it can record with maximum quickness and accuracy. The length of the pipeline section, controlled by one module of the system, is equal to 120 kilometres.
“The Fiber-Optic Leak Detection and Activity Control System has a significant potential and may be used not only for pipeline monitoring, but also for control of hydrocarbon extraction process” - said Grigory Kiselev.
